    Info:

Coconut oil, not to be confused with coconut milk, is the lipid (or fat) extracted from dried coconuts. It is a highly dense source of calories, which it provides predominantly in the form of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTʼs), a healthy form of saturated fat. Coconut oil has many uses including for frying, baking and general cooking as well as in cosmetics and for use as a fuel. When consumed regularly as part of diet it can show beneficial effects on skin texture, hair strength, for stress relief, digestive issues and improving immunity. Therapeutically, coconut oil has shown benefit when treating conditions as serious as HIV/Aids, autoimmune disease, impaired kidney and liver function and certain cancers. One of the things that makes coconut oil so versatile is its high MCT content (approx 92%) which grants it superb stability even at high cooking temperatures, and the presence of lauric, palmitic and caprylic fatty acids. MCTʼs are also much more easily digested than other fats due to the fact that they do not require the presence of bile salts to digest them, and contain antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal compounds, which actually improve digestive health.

For an athlete, or participant in energy draining sports, coconut oil can really come into its own. Due to their unique chemical structure, MCTʼs are not stored as bodyfat the way other lipids are, instead upon digestion they are transported to the liver for immediate energy metabolism. This can be particularly useful for athletes who are concerned about body composition (bodybuilders, track and field, football players, swimmers, martial artists etc), those on a low carbohydrate diets and anyone who requires energy dense foods but does not wish to gain excess bodyfat.

    MCT
What if there was a fat you could eat that was not stored as bodyfat and would just
be burned off as heat? Would this be the nirvana of fat loss supplements and free
    energy source for athletes?
Well the proponents of Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT's) would certainly like
us to believe that MCT are the answer to athletes and dieters dreams. Is it true?
Sort of. First we have to back up however and explain what an MCT is. Fats can
come in different lengths (i.e. number if carbon atoms in the chain) and can be
saturated or unsaturated. MCTʼs are technically a saturated fat with 8-10 carbon
lengths, making it a “medium” length fatty acid.
MCTʼs can be produced from the fractioning of other oils, such as coconut oil.
Long chain fatty acids on the other hand have 16, 18, or more, carbon lengths.
Because of their shorter length, MCTʼs are processed differently in the body and
can bypass many steps that long chain fatty acids must go through to be used as
energy and stored as bodyfat. For example, long chain fatty acids must be
transported to the power house of cells called the mitochondria via something
    called the carnitine shuttle system.
This system is one of several limiting steps in the amount and rate of fat that can
be “burned” or oxidized for energy at any one time. MCTʼs on the other hand can
bypass this shuttle system and can enter the mitochondria directly to be used as

energy. This is one of several reasons MCTʼs are considered less likely to be stored
as bodyfat than long chain fatty acids.
Some studies in both people and animals suggests MCTʼs increase the thermic
effect of food and increase daily energy expenditure (EE); which means the energy
is lost as heat rather than stored as bodyfat. However, the few studies that have
looked directly at the use of MCTʼs for weight loss in humans have been
    disappointing.

More often than not, studies that looked at MCTʼs for weight loss in humans have
found no effects on weight loss. The reason is not totally clear but it may have to
do with some of the positive effects of MCTʼs being offset by several negative
effects on metabolism. For example, there may be an increased production of
triglycerides and an increased release of the fat storage hormone insulin from
    ingesting MCT oils.
There are other possible drawbacks to MCTʼs. For example, MCTʼs don't contain
fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin E, D, and K, nor do they contain any essential
fatty acids (EFAʼs). MCTʼs do appear to have some genuine medical uses where
digestion of fats and various liver problems exist, as well as having possible anticatabolic
(muscle sparing) effects in hospitalized patients.
Though MCTʼs may not be the nirvana of fat loss products and energy enhancers
some people make it out to be
, there may still be a place for this product in the
athletes arsenal of supplements and some experimentation is recommended.

People who push MCTʼs as some sort of muscle building anabolic fat are feeding
people a load of you know what.
For building muscle and or improving strength and performance, MCTʼs get a

    caproic acid 0,6%
    caprylic acid 7,5%
    capric acid 6%
    lauric acid 44,6%
    myristic acid 16,8%
    palmitic acid 8,2%
    stearic acid 2,8%
